with applications in clinical and robotic-based decision-making, knowledge accession, medical imaging, virtual
intelligence in medicine, and healthcare. In this webinar, we will discuss the challenges and opportunities of
big data and AI in biomedicine as well as the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, we will go over the recent
developments and use cases in prevention and treatments.
John Jiang, PhD
Lead Big Data Architect and Data Scientist at VESS

Dr. Jiang is a data scientist with over thirty years of experience. He is
founder and CEO of VESS, a company that uses data science to help companies respond to industry
transitions in order to stay competitive. He previously served as CTO for Lockheed Martin IT for
homeland security leading a ten billion dollar federal anti-terrorism big data project, US-VISIT. He
was instrumental in the process of building America’s virtual borders - using biometrics, IoT, big
data, and AI to protect the US borders over land, air, and sea. Dr. Jiang later built and led the
big data solution practice for BearingPoint and also served as executive architect for IBM GBS to
lead many Global 500 companies’ data-driven transformations. He led the Research & Development
for Hitachi America across many industries such as communication, media, entertainment, healthcare,
smart cities, agriculture, manufacturing, and power systems.

University with a MS in data science and Emory University with a BA in business.
